Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today visited the newly inaugurated Mother Child Hospital, Sundernagar in Mandi district to get first hand information regarding facilities in this hospital which would be dedicated for the Covid-19 patients.
Chief Minister also visited the old buildings/structure of BBMB colony at Salapar to explore the possibilities of creating additional facilities for covid-19 patients if the situation warrants.
While presiding over the meeting to review Covid-19 situation at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College Nerchowk in Mandi district, Chief Minister said that in view of the sharp surge in number of covid-19 cases in the State, the State Government had decided to upgrade the bed capacity for the covid patients in the State to about 5000 beds. He said that Ner Chowk Medical College has been dedicated as Covid-19 Hospital and additional 100 bedded Makeshift was coming up in the adjoining complex of the Hospital which would be completed within next 4-5 days.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government was upgrading and enhancing its capacity to meet out any eventuality. He said that about 1000 bed capacity would be created for covid patients at Parour in Radha Swami Complex of Kangra district. He said that work on MCH building at Mandi would be completed within a month for which additional funds had been provided. He said that State Government has also urged the people visiting the State to get RTPCR negative report and stay in home isolation for atleast two weeks.
Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure uninterrupted supply of oxygen beds and asked them to provide oxygen facility to maximum beds in the Medical College Nerchowk. He said that the bed capacity of Hospital at Ratti must be enhanced from 25 beds to 50 beds.
Jai Ram Thakur also directed the officers to enlist all such institutions/buildings in the district that could be used for providing better medical facilities to the covid-19 patients in case of increase in number of patients. He also felt the need for strengthening home isolation facilities in the State. He said that efforts would be made to strengthen health care facilities in Bilaspur and Hamirpur district to lessen the load of Medical College Nerchowk. He also directed the officers to ensure proper coordination among them for effective tackling this pandemic.
Later, the Chief Minister also inspected under construction Makeshift Pre-fabricated Hospital at Bangrotu in Mandi district.
Jai Ram Thakur also visited Mother Child Health Care Centre at Mandi and directed the concerned authorities for its early completion. He also visited Radhaswami Satsang Vyas complex at Khaliyara to explore possibilities of setting up 200 bedded prefabricated structure if required.
Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal, MLA Sundernagar Rakesh Jamwal, MLA Balh Inder Singh Gandhi, MLA Drang Jawahar Thakur, BJP Spokesman Ajay Rana, Deputy Commissioner Mandi Rugved Thakur, SP Shalini Agnihotri, Chief Medical Officer Devender Sharma and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
