The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Manager, Food Corporation of India, Regional Office Punjab, Chandigarh and a private person in a bribery case of Rs. Two Lakh. A case was registered against both the accused and unknown others. It was alleged that the private person (Proprietor of a private firm), resident of Amritsar & doing business of sale/purchase of rice, in connivance with Manager, FCI, Regional Office Punjab, Chandigarh was obtaining undue business from FCI by manipulating the process of procurement and e-auction of foodgrains. CBI laid a trap and caught both the accused including private person (bribe giver) & the Manager, FCI while giving and accepting bribe of Rs. 2 lakh. Searches were conducted at the premises of accused at Chandigarh, Zirakpur and Amritsar. The arrested accused were produced before the Competent Court at Chandigarh. After expiry of two days of police custody, both the accused have been produced in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Chandigarh and were remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
