Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting & Youth Affairs & Sports ShriAnurag Singh Thakur today reassured and reiterated Prime Minister ShriNarendraModi’s principal commitment to ensure fair, just & equitable socio economic development of 130 crore people of the country. He said the Union government under the leadership of PM Modi has already embarked on the proactive path of AatmaNirbhar Bharat (Self Reliant India) wherein all initiatives and programmes are vigorously underway to enlist prosperity, growth & development in all sectors for cross section of citizens irrespective of caste, colour, creed or religion. Addressing a press conference at Hotel Peterhoff here this morning, Shri Thakur quoted PM’s Independence speech in which he not only talked about SabkaSaath, SabkaVikas, SabkaVishwas but added that SabkaPrayas needed to be infused into the body & soul of people of the country to ensure AatmaNirbhar Bharat Campaign achieves desired goals and targets in a time bound manner for the people of the country. The Minister said that PM’s focus is to shift from Jan Baghidhari to Jan Andolan while institutionalising all sectors of development in line with modern and scientific needs and requirements. The I&B Minister arrived in capital Shimla for a 5 day visit to the state of Himachal Pradesh last evening to embark on a tour to 04 Parliamentary Constituencies to reach out to common people with the Centre’s policies, initiatives, development & progress aimed at equitable socio-economic development of the common masses in the State. Anurag Thakur assured people of Himachal Pradesh that Centre is well aware and taking care of peculiar and special requirements of the State in view of its topography and geographical landscape besides other needs in education, healthcare, industrial growth, vocational & skill development, employment sectors for general people and particularly underprivileged. He reaffirmed that PM led Central government has been formulating best policies and initiatives for the socio-economic upliftment of less privileged people and also those living below the poverty line. The Minister informed that in view of COVID pandemic and other urgent requirements, the Centre made allocations under 03 budgets besides 06 mini budgets, in favour of Himachal Pradesh that is something historical. During the question answer session, ShriAnurag Thakur explained centre’s priorities vis a vis ongoing COVID pandemic, economic development, social harmony and peace &tranquillity across the country. Replying to a question, Shri Thakur assured that Centre has put in place a robust, vibrant & proactive mechanism in place in case of probable 3rd Wave of COVID-19 pandemic. He informed that all requisite medical and healthcare infrastructure and facilities have been upgraded and augmented across the country to cope up successfully with any such challenge, danger and eventuality. The Minister informed that under Make in India initiative, 55 Crore vaccine doses were rolled out with 35000 Crore as budgetary allocation for the same.
The Minister enumerated several programmes and projects in education, healthcare & industrial & sports sectors under implementation with the liberal budgetary allocation from Centre for the state of Himachal Pradesh. He added that ‘Vocal for Local’ is a great campaign in which there is a need to promote local products and cultural diversity for the socio economic development in the state of Himachal Pradesh In reply to a question, Shri Thakur said that there is intense focus on sports activities for younger generation enshrined in the National Education Policy (NEP) rolled out by the Centre. Quoting PM’s encouragement to Olympian winners and participants in recent Tokyo Olympics, the Minister revealed that PM urged Olympian role models to work on fighting malnutrition among school & other children by creating mass awareness through intense individual and collective initiatives.
