2266 International passengers have arrived in the State from 20th November 2021 till now

The Government Spokesperson today said that as per the list shared by Government of India, 2266 International passengers have arrived in the State from 20th November 2021 till now. He said that only 1911 International passengers were eligible for RTPCR testing. The remaining 355 International passengers were not eligible for testing as some of them were untraceable, some have completed 14 days of home isolation, some returned back to abroad and some are staying out of State.
The Government Spokesperson told that out of 1911 international passengers eligible for testing, RTPCR test of 1078 passengers have been done. He added that the testing is done on the 8th day after arrival or appearance of covid symptoms.

The Government Spokesperson informed that out of 1078 RTPCR tests done, 10 samples were found positive and these were sent for whole genome sequencing (WGS) to NCDC Delhi for the final confirmation of virus. Out of these 10 samples send, one sample was found positive for omicron variant on 26th December 2021 and two samples have been found positive for the delta variant as on 29th December 2021.

The Government Spokesperson informed that the positive case of omicron was a 45 years old female from District Mandi with a travel history from Canada and have received both doses of COVID vaccine. The two positive cases of delta variant are a 32 years old female from District Mandi and a 26 years old male from District Hamirpur respectively. They have a travel history from Estonia and Russia and both are asymptomatic. He added that 32 years old female from Mandi have received both doses of COVID vaccine while 26 years old male from Hamirpur is not vaccinated.
The Government Spokesperson appealed to the public not to panic but follow COVID appropriate behaviours like wearing masks, maintaining social distance, frequently washing hands or using sanitizers. He appealed to the people to get themselves vaccinated with both doses of COVID vaccine, if not yet vaccinated.
