Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today visited the area of Khaniyara under Dharamshala sub division of Kangra district where unprecedented cloudburst and flash floods damaged the public property yesterday. The Chief Minister after presiding over the function of celebrations of 75 years of formation of Himachal Pradesh in Nurpur constituency flown to Dharamshala to take stock of the situation and review the relief measures.
He inspected the entire area along with district administration and revenue team and interacted with the affected families. The Chief Minister said that adequate machinery and manpower have been deployed to clear the debris. Immediate relief has also been disbursed by the administration, he added. The Chief Minister also appealed to the people to take precautions keeping in view the unprecedented monsoon.
Chief Minister directed the local administration to assess the property loss immediately so that admissible compensation could be provided to affected families.
MLA Dharamshala Vishal Nehria, DC Nipun Jindal, SDM Shilpi Beakta, Officers of PWD department, Electricity Board, Rural Development department and Municipal Corporation representatives were also present at the incident site with the Chief Minister.
