Chief Minister, Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that to provide quality education to the students in the State, 68 ‘Rajiv Gandhi Model Day Boarding Schools’, one each in every assembly constituency, will be established with modern technology and equipments per the commitment of the State Government. He was presiding over a meeting of senior officers of the Education Department here on Friday late evening.
“These Rajiv Gandhi Model Day Boarding Schools would be constructed on a land spread minimum over 100 kanals area and would be equipped with the cutting edge technology,” said the Chief Minister. He directed the officers to identify the land for these schools keeping in mind all student friendly parameters and complete the construction work in a time bound manner.
The State Government is making earnest efforts to club sports and education, in order to give the youngsters better scope of a bright career, said Sh. Sukhu, adding that a sports school and sports college will also come up in the State in near future besides an indoor stadium will be constructed in Jubbal-Kotkahi Assembly segment. He also directed the officers to identify suitable places for the purpose.
To mitigate with shortage of staff in the Education Department, Sh. Sukhu stressed upon the rationalization of the staff. He said that simultaneously the State Government will initiate the process of filling the vacant posts in teaching and non-teaching cadre. The students studying in government institutions shall not suffer and the government will make all out efforts to facilitate them, said he.
He also emphasized on job oriented education and directed to start new technical courses in Himachal Pradesh Technical University Hamirpur.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Bharat Khera, Secretary Education Abhishek Jain, Director Higher Education Dr. Amarjeet Sharma and Director Elementary Education Ghanshyam Sharma were also present in the meeting.
