SJVN to Supply 500 MW Solar Power from Bikaner Project to Punjab

Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN informed that a Power Usage Agreement (PUA) for 500 MW Solar Power has been signed with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) at Patiala, Punjab. This 500 MW solar power capacity shall be supplied to PSPCL by SJVN from its under construction 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan.

 Nand Lal Sharma further apprised that the 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project is a part of CPSU Scheme and is being developed under the Domestic Content Requirement mode. SJVN had awarded India’s single largest EPC contract amounting to Rs 5491 crores for this project to M/s Tata Power Solar Systems Limited. The Project is being implemented by SJVN through its wholly owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) and is slated for commissioning by March 2024.

 Nand Lal Sharma further stated that on commissioning, the project will generate 2455 million units in its first year of operation and 56838 million units will be generated over a period of 25 years. The power generated by the project will be used by Government entities, either directly or through DISCOMS. For the remaining 500 MW capacity, SGEL is in an advanced stage of discussions with various DISCOMS and the agreement(s) in this regard shall be signed shortly.

The Power Usage Agreement was signed by Sh. Ajay Singh, Dy. CEO, SGEL and Sh. Massa Singh, Engineer-in-Chief, PSPCL in presence of the senior officials of SGEL and PSPCL.
