The Himachal Herald, Shimla
Himachal Congress President Kuldeep Singh Rathore has demanded from the state government to save farmers of Himachal Pradesh from the loot of Adani. He has said that this time Adani has reduced the purchase price of apples by Rs. 16 and has influenced the 5 thousand crore apple market of the state. Covid and unexpected snowfall in month of May has already broken the backbone of small farmers of the state. The farmers are completely disappointed as they did not get any relief from the government. Farmers were hoping to get a better price this year but it did not happen. He has said that the Congress is not going to sit silent about this and the exploitation will not be allowed. Addressing reporters at Congress Headquarters Rajiv Bhawan today, Rathore said that the prices of apples have been dropped with the connivance of the government. He alleged that Ambani and Adani have full protection of the government. Rathore said that today the farmers are facing the brunt of three new agricultural laws. He asked whether the government wants that now the orchardists also commit suicide like the farmers of other states. He said that today the cost of one box is around Rs. 450 to 500 rupees, while it is selling around Rs.600 in the market. He said that since 1984, the government used to give subsidies on insecticides, fungicides and other medicines along with agricultural equipments in the state, but now unfortunately the BJP government has banned all such reliefs. He said that due to unseasonal snowfall and hailstorm, the gardeners suffered huge losses of fruit bearing trees. He said in this context had also met the Chief Minister. Sadly, neither the Chief Minister nor the Horticulture Minister made any visit to the affected areas. Rathore took a jibe at the Horticulture Minister and said that people will take full revenge in the elections for the injustice done to the farmers of the state. Rathore has again reiterated the demand of the government to purchase apples from Nafed and implement the minimum support price for good quality apples as well.
As colour can’t lose its ability to give colour after being broken several times. Similarly, I also can’t unlearn the art of spreading love and smile, after being broken, several times by my life !
