The Government Spokesperson said that under the National Oral Health Programme 13 oral health clinics are being run in addition to the regular dental clinics under the Directorate of Dental Health. He further added that the patients are being provided essential oral health care services in these clinics. He informed that the Government of India has also given permission to establish 9 new oral health clinics at PHC and CHC levels.
The Government Spokesperson told that under the ambit of National Oral Health Programme, MUSKAAN project is being run in the State. The National Health Mission is funding this scheme in 85 dental clinics in the State, where the patients are being provided free dentures. He further informed that the dental mechanics posted at these oral health clinics, make artificial dentures for the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries of the scheme include patients of 65 years or above who are provided free artificial dentures. In addition to this the families of BPL are also provided free dentures under MUSKAAN project and the rest of the beneficiaries are charged the nominal rates of RKS for the dentures. He said that a total of 4011 and 1050 beneficiaries availed free dentures in the year 2020-21 and 2021-22 respectively.
The Government Spokesperson said that the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has launched a National Toll free dental and oral health care interactive voice response system number 1800112032. He said that the Ministry also provides e-dant seva. This digital platform contains information about oral health care and list of all the dental facilities in the State. The unique feature of this platform is that it is a symptom checker also.
He appealed that oral health is indispensable for the well-being and good quality of life, hence we all should ensure healthy oral health.
